What is it good for?

What it was designed to do

That goal is still the claim the compound is sold on. It is important to notice that a design goal is a statement of intent, not a finding. Whether Selank achieves it is exactly what evidence would have to establish, and the two get run together in almost everything written about it.

The evidence, and where it comes from

Most of the clinical literature on Selank is Russian. Independent replication in Western trials is limited.

One honest point in its favour

Selank is usually sold as a nasal spray, and that is largely how it was studied. Intranasal delivery avoids the digestive tract and is a genuine route for peptides intended to reach the brain.

It is one of the few compounds in this library where what is sold matches the format the research used — which is a low bar, and worth noting because so much of this catalogue does not clear it.

The same claim cannot be made for noopept, the oral dipeptide from the same research tradition, whose mechanism rests on a metabolite demonstrated in rats and never detected in human plasma.
